Both male and female mosquitoes are nectar feeders, but the females of many species are also capable of hematophagy (drinking blood). Females do not require blood for their own survival, but they do need supplemental substances such as protein and iron to develop eggs.

Despite the honey bee's painful sting and the stereotype of insects as pests, bees are generally held in high regard. This is most likely due to their usefulness as pollinators and as producers of honey, their social nature, and their reputation for diligence.

Fruit Flies pictured here, can be a problem year round, but are especially common during late summer/fall because they are attracted to ripened or fermenting fruits and vegetables. If you have been seeing small flies or gnats in your kitchen, they're probably fruit flies. Adults are about 1/8 inch long and usually have red eyes. The front portion of the body is tan and the rear portion is black. They usually lay their eggs around fermenting fruit.
Flying Insects, in general, can fly with the help of 1-2 pairs of wings. This group includes butterflies, ants, beetles, grasshoppers, dragonflies, and many other insects.
